Paykan eliminated Urmia with a 2-1 in playoff semifinals to face reigning champions Sarmayeh Bank in the final series. As we already reported, referring to our ources and Iranian media, Urmia fans were throwing coins at some of Paykan players.
According to our correspondent from Iran, now we know the main target of the visiting fans. It was their former player Saeid Marouf.
Urmia supporters even hit Paykan setter on the head with a coin at one point when he was about to serve. They did not stop on this. Marouf caused same reaction of them at the end of the match when he was leaving the floor, going to greet his teammates.
Obviously, Urmia fans cannot forget that he left their team last summer and went to fierce rivals Paykan. This behavior of Urmia supporters is even more bizarre knowing that Marouf is native of Urmia!
