Therefore she is able to play for some other country if she wants, and Germany saw the chance to acquire a quality player. German Volleyball Federation has been trying to persuade Mari to join them, but the efforts were in vain.
“Coach Giovanni Guidetti is my friend. He said that he would like to see me in German National Team. However, there are some problems. Despite being one of the richest countries in the world, Germany is not investing a lot in volleyball. Their players are playing purely for the love of the country, but I love Brazil. At the moment I don’t have desire to play for Germany, but perhaps one day I will have it” said Mari who has both Brazilian and German citizenship.
Excellent receiver added that she also does not plan to return to Brazilian National Team.
“No, I am not thinking about that. Now, I have some other goals.”
