RIO 2016: It’s freezing cold in Maracanazinho! Air-conditioning is moving the ball!

This might be a serious problem at the Rio volleyball tournament! The air-conditioning in Maracanazinho is so strong, that it affects the trajectory of the ball!!!

More complains about the conditions at Rio Olympics. This time they came from the Poland’s men’s team and, believe it or not, from the host of the tournament – Brazil!

According to the Polish media, it is freezing cold in Maracanazinho gym, but that is not the biggest problem. The air-conditioning is very, very strong so the setters have problems to place a perfect pass, as the wind slightly changes the trajectory of the ball!

“It is not easy as the ball flies a bit strange, like it is floating. Still, the teams will face the same conditions…” said Poland head coach Stephane Antiga.

Interesting enough, Brazilian players were also very surprised when they started their first training in Maracanazinho.

“The gym is beautiful. Still, I think the air-conditioning is a bit strong. I felt it immediately I entered the gym. Actually, it is affecting the ball trajectory as well. I guess the beach players would adapt to these conditions better than me (laughs),” said Brazilian setter William Arjona.
