Even though the Games have not begun yet, the head coach of Brazil has one injured player – Maruicio Souza. He picked up a minor injury but nevertheless Rezende wanted to replace him with other middle blocker Sidao. He refused Rezende’s invitation!

First of all, I want to make everything clear. I support Mauricio on his way to recover. Bernardo Rezende contacted me asking to come back to the squad and I refused. Only I know what I went through after being cut from the roster. I asked Rezende why he did not give me an opportunity to show what I can do in the World League. Things are not simple. Rezende knows that I wanted to be in Rio so bad to get another chance to fight for gold. I have my own convictions. I am a man and have a family. I talked to my wife Dani, and she only knows how much I was suffering after being cut. I do not regret after refusing Rezende. That’s my choice” says Sidao.

Bernardo Rezende has no alternatives – he has to take chances with Maruicio Souza or to call Isac
