In a super exciting game, Perugia have managed to down Lube in tie-break game 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-9).

At the beginning of the game, Lube had a one point lead (5-4), keeping the advantage until the first TTO (8-7). However, we saw a strong reaction from Perugia, who has made 7-4 scoring run to take over the lead 14-11. It was a confidence boost of Bernardi’s side, who kept the advantage until the end of the first set. Lube had to surrender – 25-19.

We didn’t wait too long for the answer of Blengini’s side. In the second set, they improved reception and provided much better conditions for their setter Micah Christenson, who had in these moments much easier job while delivering the balls to his teammates. After a great fight, Lube leveled the score 1:1 (19-25, 25-22).

In the third set Perugia again caused a lot of troubles to the rival’s defense, making a huge lead at the first TTO (8-3) and increasing the lead at the second TTO (16-9). Lube had a difficult job and simply had to let the set go for a new lead of the host team 2-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-20).

Lube simply didn’t want to end this game like this, playing in the fourth set on a really high level to tie the score in sets again 2-2!

Tie-break has brought a lot of excitement to the fans in Rome. Perugia were leading almost all the time, controling the game and at the end, they achieved huge success – claimed spot in tomorrow’s gold medal game!

The middle blocker of Perugia Emanuele Birarelli had to leave the court in tie-break with a pain in his leg, after he suffered an injury. We will find out how serious it is.
