GLORIA CUP 2018: Azerbaijan surprised Italy, Turkey stronger than Russia

On the second day of the Gloria Cup 2018 in Antalya, Azerbaijan and Turkey celebrated important wins.

In the first match of the day, Azerbaijan defeated Italy in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) and surprised everyone. Polina Rahimova was the main scorer in the winning team with 14  points while the best scorer for Italy was Sylvia Chinelo Nwakalor with 11 points, followed by Serena Ortolani with 10. 

Italy: Nwakalor 11, Ortolani 10, Fahr 5, Lubian 7, Cambi 2, Guerra 7, Parrocchiale (l), Egonu 1, Bosetti 2, Danesi, Chirichella, Malinov. N.E: De Gennaro, Sylla. Coach: Mazzanti.

Azerbaijan: Abdulazimova 8, Bayramova 7, Rahimova 14, Habibova 3, Samadova 7, Karimova 5, Karimova Y (l), Yagubova, Gurbanova. N.E: Hasanova, Matiasovska, Zhidkova.Coach: Garayev.

In the second match of the day, Turkey outplayed Russia with 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 18-25, 25-15) and in some way revenged for the last defeat at Rabobank Super Series when Russia won 3-2. Hande Baladin was elected for the best player of the match.
