CHALLENGER CUP W: Bulgaria and Colombia for a place in VNL 2019

Colombia and Bulgaria will play in the final of the FIVB Challenger Cup for Women.

They defeated Peru and Puerto Rico in the semifinals and the winners of the final match will take the spot in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League since that Argentina relegated this year.

In the semifinal, Bulgaria outplayed Peru with 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-18) and until now they didn’t lose a single set in this competition. Mariya Karakasheva and Gergana Dimitrova were the top scorers of the winning team with 13 and 12 points while Karla Beatriz Ortiz scored 12 points for the host team.

In the second semifinal, Colombia dropped the first set and then won the match with 3-1 (23-25, 27-25, 25-10, 25-18) against Puerto Rico.

Dayana Patricia Segovia scored 21 points followed by Amanda Coneo who scored 20 points. Colombia dominated Puerto Rico in all skills, with 13 blocks to 5, 4 aces to 1 and a 33% (60/177) to 30% (54/179) attacking efficiency. Daly Santana was the best scorer of Puerto Rico with 21 points.
