World League 2012

WL M: Toronto sees two upsets on second day of World League

Toronto was the place to be for thrills and upsets on the second day of the FIVB World League as hosts Canada handed Brazil their second straight loss, while Finland overcame Poland in Pool B. Both matches went to five sets, as did two of the day's other games: America's win over Korea in Pool C and Russia's victory over Japan in Pool A. Both the remaining games were 3-1 victories: for Italy against France in Florence, Italy, and Serbia over Cuba in Hamamatsu, Japan.

"I’m proud of my team", Finnish captain Tuomas Sammelvuo stated after the Finns' win over Poland. "We really needed this win against a great team. We played with a great attitude. Our attacking was clever and we covered a lot of balls with great plays from our opposite and setter."

Sunday's action sees Cuba take on Russia, Serbia face Japan, Korea meet France, USA clash with Italy, Brazil v Finland and Canada against Poland.
