Berlin Recycling Volleys became German men’s volleyball champions for the ninth time!

No.2 Berlin Recycling Volleys swept top-seed VfB Friedrichshafen on the road in a decisive Game 5 of the 2017/18 German volleyball championship 1. Bundesliga playoff finals, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-22), to close the series by a 3-2. Thus, BR Volleys made the title hat-trick (2016, 2017, and 2018).

At the same time, the team from the German capital won the championship trophy for the sixth time in just seven years while their coach, legendary Romanian expert Stelian Moculescu, got himself the 20th championship title in Germany, taking 14 with the team which he beat in this season’s finals. Recall that Moculescu sat on the bench of BR Volleys only three months ago.

The Australian Adam White highlighted BR Volleys tonight with 19 points. The Serbian Aleksandar Okolić made 70% attack (7/10). David Sossenheimer and Daniel Malescha scored 11 points apiece for Friedrichshafen, who at one point of the season had a 37-0 record including all competitions, both national and international! Before the playoff finals with BR Volleys, the “Häfler” were undefeated in Bundesliga (both regular season and playoff) with a 24-0 record.
