Igor Gorgonzola Novara prevails Serie A1 title holders Pomì Casalmaggiore in premiere match of 18th round of Italian championship 3-2 (25-19, 25-21, 18-25, 23-25, 15-11).

In an evening of great emotions at „Pala Igor Gorgonzola“ gymnasium, the team coached by Marco Fenoglio beat fatigue due to grueling round trip to Baku for the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup (1-3 vs. Azeryol).

Since Novara returned from Azerbaijan less than 36 hours before the match against Casalmaggiore, this win can fit into category of stunts.

Puerto Rican Aurea Cruz was the hero of Novara being perfect in tie-break and being announced MVP. She also shared the best scorer award in her team with Croatian Samanta Fabris – 22 points. The German Margareta Kozuch topped Casalmaggiore’s scorers with 27 points.
