ITA M: Modena blew 2-1 lead, Lube win first battle in semis!

2815 0

The reigning champions Azimut Modena didn't manage to take the win in the first semifinal clash of the Italian Serie A1, even though they had 2-1 lead after three sets...

Lube have opened match much better, scoring some good points and providing a lot of joy for their fans. But, in another two sets, reigning champions raised to tie the score and afterwards to take the lead.

It was a shocking moment for the first placed team in regular season. But they didn't lose a hope. They started playing like in the first set, which was enough to tie the score against Modena.

In the tie-break, Modena were trailing all the time, while the home team controlled the situation on the court and that led them to the first win in the semifinals.

The top scorer of the game was Earvin Ngapeth, who had an amazing display, scoring 31 points. But, since they didn't achieve the goal, he has to forget this performance as soon as possible and to look forward to next meeting of theset two teams.

In home team, Tsvetan Sokolov had 17 points, while Osmany Juantorena added 12 and Davide Candellaro 11.

CEV abolished the technical timeouts!

in PlusLiga there are no technical time-outs and thanks to that the games are more interesting to watch, probably because the flow of the game is not disturbed (if only they eliminated 10-minute breaks for commercials after 2 sets it would be perfect...) Reply

TRANSFER EXPLOSION: Zaytsev in Modena – “The most important thanks is for you, Lollo”

Re: @suisse Agree, I was thinking either Modena or Trentino for Zaytsev as an opposite. Modena has to get one strong outside spiker beside Urnaut and one strong middle blocker if they want to compete with Lube and Perugia.
Trentino has to find some great opposite (Djuric if he is healthy) in order to become competitive. Lanza and Kovacevic are not as strong as Juantorena/Leal or Leon/Rusell. If Rusell move to Trentino, and I am not sure why would he since next season is time for Perugia to get some international trophies unless Trentino makes him offer he can't refuse. But then Perugia is without second outside spiker.
Sole went to Verona, which is a surprise. If he came back toTrento, him and Lisinac would make great middle blocker duo.
