Ivan and leon together? I don’t see this solution

Re: @Axe
That would work and they would kill it, Leon has great reception and he receives the most with Kazan as everyone serves on him and Zaytsev has been receiving the most in Perugia this season and he`s doing great, and for OPP they could sign the Dutch that is leading the league in score or even Sokolov.

Re: @Mateo Why would everyone serves on him if he has great reception? It’s quite opposite, https://www.worldofvolley.com/News/Latest_news/Russia/81681/rus-m-leon–my-reception-is-very-bad.html
Regardless, I am not sure who will play beside him, Zaytsev or Russell.

no way December 4, 2017 - 7:03 pm

Re: @former_player
Russell was the MVP of Supercoppa. Ivan has not been performing really well. His reception has been suffering quite a lot that I could see him being moved to opposite if he can’t recover from the slump of his life.

You should check the stats or watch the games. Zaytsev ranks at 20th as best receiver with 49%, while Russel is at 38th with 32% and Berger 53 with 9% And Zaytsev has received much more balls than Russel/Berger. Antonov is 3rd with 74% and Lanza 6th 63%, I guess Zaytsev/Leon/Lanza would work or Zaytsev/Leon/Abdel-Aziz

Re: @no way So you say Atanasijevic might be release??? I don’t think so

Re: @Axe
Ivan is more important because he is an italian. Atanasijevic is a foreigner and Perugia has to have 3 Italian players(inside the court all the time(libero not included). Russell has a contract with Perugia until 2019. Both Atanasijevic and Zaytsev’s contract will end on 2018.

Re: @former_player
You must serve on him in order to make sure he won`t be attacking a lot of balls, if you serve on someone else you leave Leon right open to attack and he can attack from any position even when the passing is not good. At least when he is receiving Butko can`t always set back at him, you can`t leave Leon and Mikhailov both available to attack.

reception of ivan has been terrible this season December 4, 2017 - 6:50 pm

And his attack is more so.

Atanasijevic will have to leave December 4, 2017 - 6:49 pm

Russell has a contract with Perugia until 2019 and Ivan will have to move back to an opposite.

Atanasijevic has to leave imo. Zaytsev is one of the best opposites in the world. Being stuck to second fiddle of Russell or Atanasijevic is not what he’s known for.

I hear this already, as a friend this rumour is old, also there is another player who can join this team……. Yoandy Leal the choices are one of this two, Leon can play as opposite as well and who knows maybe they can combine the Nº1 with the Nº2 player in the world right now in one team, but i agree, one star will leave for sure and will be atanasijevic, maybe Cruzeiro sign him but i doubt it. as for the Italian on court problem they can release prodrascanin and sign back another Italian MB, my dream would be to see at least one year, Simon, Leon, Juantorena and Leal in one team. the true Cuban NT

Re: @Revan
Leal will be playing for the Brazilian NT starting 2019, I doubt he would leave Brazil at this point. It would be a slap on the Brazilians face.

Atanasijevic to leave Perugia?! Hahahaha

Why not? December 5, 2017 - 4:09 pm

Re: @Bax
He chokes in big matches anyway.

Took him five years to earn a trophy in Perugia. He still hasn’t even won any gold medal for Serbia and currently being benched by Drazen Luburic.
They won’t need him if you have Russell and Leon with Ivan as the opposite.

Guys, let’s keep the discussion civil. No need for insult because of difference in opinion. These are just rumors which might not be true at all.

Frankly, not sure that any Italian team has money to pay for Leal or Leon because Brazilians and Russians are paying more than Italians.

Regarding Atanasijevic vs Luburic, Atanasijevic hasn’t recovered properly from injury and Grbic didn’t want to risk playing him, hence Luburic played.

Personally, I admire Zaytsev as marketing genius but I am not impressed with his performance. Here is the proof, below is the link for Italian league statistics for spikers, he is 40th. 39 players have better statistics than him this season. For example, Atanasijevic is 10th. Ngapeth is 4th, Juantorena is 7th
