Tianjin and Taipei
On the penultimate day of the group round-robin preliminaries of the annual competition, Tianjin overcame Taipei in a hard-fought four-set thriller with a magnificent come-from-behind 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18) victory in Pool B.
Also winning in the same pool on Sunday were Kazakhstan’s Zhetyssu, which outclassed PLDT of the Philippines in straight sets 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-21). India’s KSEB tasted its first victory in the championship, following their convincing 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-9) win over Singapore’s VAS. Hosts Nakhonratchasima went down in a closely-contested 3-2 (16-25 23-25 25-20 25-20 10-15) encounter in a grueling 122 minutes match against Thong Tin Lienvietpostbank of Vietnam.
