ACH W: Unstoppable Kim overpowers defending champions in last round (VIDEO)

The last round of the Final 8 phase at the 2015 Asian Championship in Tianjin (China) has brought the first major upset – defending champions lost their first match!

Thailand – South Korea

Title holder Thailand bumped into high obstacle in Pool F and despite twice leading in sets, failed to beat South Korea2-3 (25-21, 17-25, 25-18, 19-25, 11-15).

Kim Yeon-Koung was the main weapon for South Korea in this match and her national team has 3-0 score (8 points) and went into the quarterfinal from the pole position, while Thailand has 2-1 (7 points) and ended second.

In the same Pool, Chinese Taipei beat Kazakhstan in five sets as well and collected its first 2 points. Thus, Chinese Taipei qualified for the quarterfinal as third. Kazakhstan finished as last.

In Pool E, undefeated China (didn’t lose a single set) easily cruised past Vietnam (3-0) and took first place, while Vietnamese team ended second.

Japan will go the quarterfinals from the third position after clear win over Iran, with partial 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.
