The Netherlands had an unbelievable support in the semifinal against Turkey and fans truly helped the home team to score the valuable win. Laura Dijkema stated after the match that is was a real pleasure to play in such atmosphere.
“I was expecting a more difficult match, because Turkey is a great team. But we played really great and our fans helped us to be on that level. It was amazing to play in front of so many people.”
The starting setter of the Dutch squad added that she hopes even more fans will come for the final game.
“Nobody expected that we would reach the big final. But we are there. We will play against Russia, a top level team, but we believe that we can win the gold. We are playing in front of home crowd and I can only say to our fans – Come to the game on Sunday, be our 7th player.”
The big final between Netherlands and Russia starts at 17:00.
