Poland’s national team set to compete in the prelims of the VELUX EuroVolley 2013 starting on Friday at ERGO Arena just got some special wishes from their countrywomen who are normally at home in what is the country’s most modern sports venue.

“I just hope that our guys will drive the people crazy here at ERGO Arena” says the team captain of Atom Trefl SOPOT, Izabela Belcik only two days before the start of the Championship.

“Even though our national team did not show their best in this year’s World League and also at the Memorial Hubert Jerzy Wagner, I think it is only a question of time and self-confidence. Poland has got a great team with strong players who will be playing in front of thousands of fans all dressed in their favourite red and white outfitsBelcik continues. “This shall add some extra motivation as they play their matches at ERGO Arena”.

Belcik is not the only player who will follow the VELUX EuroVolley 2013 this coming weekend right by the time Atom Trefl participates in the Three Nations tournament in Karpacz. Dutch lady Judith Pietersen will follow closely the actions of the “Oranjes” hoping that they can cause a sensation in pool C taking place in Herning. “Of course I am a fan of the Dutch national team and will follow their matches. I know that the Netherlands are not among the pre-favourites for this tournament but maybe they can cause a sensation like they did at the Wagner Memorial where they beat Russia in straight sets” she says.

They have just beaten France twice in their last friendly matches, so I am confident that they can achieve some good results” adds the opposite of Atom Trefl.

Though they won’t be able to follow the prelims matches this weekend, the Atomic girls are planning to show up at ERGO Arena for the Playoffs and 1/4 finals coming up next week.

Become official FIVB volleyball agent STEP 1: Who can become FIVB volleyball agent?

It is exactly the reason why Volleyball is not developing further. FIVB is demanding a yearly fee. It is not in favor of the players as they have to pay in the end. Reply

WoV BLOG: Is there a space for the new FIVB volleyball rules?

Completely insane. TV wants to know in 99% of the occasions how long will be a volleyball match because they need to offer commercial time for sale. Imagine you sell 45min of commercial time and you have a possibility to produce only 30 minutes? What are you going to say to the company that payed? Sorry, the games were short and we didn't have the possibility to respect our deal? That company will never ever come back and make another contract. And there is a possibility, even to make game around 2 hours, and also to make it different than before. But somebody must think.... Reply

WoV BLOG: Is there a space for the new FIVB volleyball rules?

New rules are a bad for volleyball.
First of all, the sets have less substance, taste and drama. It's like fast food versus eating in a fine restaurant.
Second, since the sets end quickly, once a team falls 3-4 points behind, loses hopes for winning the set, and we have sets results like 15-5 in a game that ends 4-3..
We will see less come-backs, which means less excitement and drama..
Since the sets are short, the beginning of the sets become most important, when a team starts 0-3 even 0-2 immediately time-out is called...This effects the flow of the game..
In the long run, serving will be more important than ever, a more defensive style will become the rule, every coach will try to cut down the mistakes, which will result less risk taking, more defensive, boring style of play..
This means volleyball will become less interesting and surely the fanbase will decline..
