The fourth place in the 2015 World League apparently doesn’t meet apetitte of the Polish staff and fans, since only a year ago, they took gold medal in the World Championship. Thus, some changes are necessary.

Several players retired from the national team after the 2014 WCH, among them Paweł Zagumny, the setter.

The winner of the World and European Championship as well as the World League gold medalist with Poland, said farewell to the national team after last year’s WCH. In meantime, he signed for AZS Politechnika Warszawska where he plans to finish with professional volleyball.

But, Stéphane Antiga, the head coach of Poland thinks that a 37-year-old player can still be useful for the national team for the European Championship in October.

„I talked with Paweł twice about his return to the Polish national team. For the first time three months ago, for the second time recently. However, he refused. He said that he doesn’t feel strong enough to play this season in the national team. I respect and understand this choice, but I think that Paweł could be useful in the squad,“ Antiga said for przegladsportowy.pl.

Zagumny already had one episode of refusing to play for the national team.

Recall, the President of the Polish Volleyball Federation announced the possibility of Winiarski’s and Wlazły’s return to the national team for the 2016 Olympics.
