POL M: Zaksa slips out of Jastrzębski’s hands once again, Rossard helps Resovia skip Radom

Jastrzebski vs. Zaksa

Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle once again prevailed over Jastrzębski in the Polish Men’s volleyball Championship, PlusLiga, after a huge fight. And once again it was a 3-2 win of title holders. But unlike the first encounter between these two teams, Jastrzębski were much closer to upset the champions today since they had a 2-0 lead in sets.

There is another difference comparing to the previous clash – this time, Jastrzębski missed middle blocker Wojciech Sobala, who is going through rehabilitation after surgery, and U.S. receiver Scott Touzinsky, who retired – which gives more significance to this result.

Zaksa were also weakened since the Frenchman Kévin Tillie, who recently suffered pretty serious injury, did not perform. But, PlusLiga champions have much more higher-quality players in roster to step in from the substitute bench.

Three players from the match share the top scorer „award“ – Belgian Sam Deroo from Zaksa and Cuban Salvador Hidalgo and Canadian Jason DeRocco from Jastrzębski. They all scored 20 points.

Resovia Rzeszów players had to work hard to beat Czarni Radom, who nearly shocked Zaksa in the last round, 3-1. The Frenchman Thibault Rossard highlighted Resovia with 20 points while Wojciech Żaliński scored 15 for Radom.
