Zenit Sankt Peterburg, the Russian Men’s volleyball championship Superliga club, announced on their website that they terminated the contract with the Swedish opposite Marcus Nilsson.

Zenit entered their first-ever volleyball season (the club was founded this summer) by having high ambitions. To support them, Zenit hired several big names both from Russia and abroad, but one of them has ended his adventure in the Saint Petersburg team already after five rounds of Superliga, being a starter in three matches (but played only one from the beginning to the end) and sidelined in two. The Swedish opposite Marcus Nilsson is no longer a member of Zenit, who made the rumor on parting ways with him official.

“Zenit Volleyball Club terminated the contract with the opposite Marcus Nilsson due to the medical condition of the player. Nilsson will be replaced by the Serbian opposite Dražen Luburić, who already had his first training with our club,” the Russian side explained the reason of saying goodbye to Nilsson and replacing him with Luburić who has just won the bronze medal with the Serbian National Team in the EuroVolley 2017.

Luburić started last season with PGE Skra Bełchatów but after a while, the Polish team sent him on loan to the Japanese side JT Thunders Hiroshima. This summer he was connected with the two Turkish teams – İstanbul BBSK and Beşiktaş İstanbul.

Re: @Axe
One reason for switching teams a lot is a that he has wanted to experimence many different countries. And he was not even injured this time, second coach of Sankt Petersburg has connections with Luburic and wanted Nilsson out. They made up the injury to have a reason to fire him.
