NCAA M: Latin American duo leads Fort Wayne to stunning comeback against conference rivals McKendree

By beating McKendree on the road, Fort Wayne continued with quite a respectable display in the 2018 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Season.

The 14th-ranked Fort Wayne Mastodons made an amazing comeback on the road at Statham Sports Center in Lebanon, Illinois, against Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) rivals McKendree Bearcats after being two sets down – 3-2 (28-30, 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-13). The Puerto Rican sophomore outside hitter Pelegrín Vargas topped the winning side, who improved their record to 9-1 (1-0 in MIVA), with 25 points (6 kill blocks), while Chilean freshman middle blocker Tomás Gago made 8 kill blocks (18 points). In McKendree (3-6 overall, 1-1 in MIVA), senior outside hitter Nolan Rueter scored  25 points (5 kill blocks).

Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters (independent) swept Emmanuel Lions (Carolinas) by a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-19) at home ground Mary E. Mars Gymnasium in Harrogate, Tennessee. Sophomore opposite Evan Cory led LMU with 16 points (3 aces) while Brazilian sophomore middle blocker Pedro Carvalho made 4 kill blocks (10 points). The Railsplitters now have a 4-5 record, while the Lions dropped to 2-7.
