EXCLUSIVE, Salvador Hidalgo for WoV - "We can't predict the future, but you will be surprised"

Salvador Hidalgo. This is the name that was used so many times in a previous period! Do you know why?

Cuban player, born in Russia, with German citizenship has been in the spotlight, especially after having monster performances in Jastrzebski's victories over two powerhouses Asseco Resovia and PGE Skra Belchatow.

In the last two games, you beat two powerhouses, Resovia and Skra! Firstly you scored 27 and then 31. What’s your secret for having such amazing performances?

Devotion, the desire always to give the best, passion, daily hard work and the team chemistry. But I have a special "ingredient" to add to all this and that is my father as a mental advisor. All this has a big influence in my performance and like this I can share some energy with the team also.”

What are Jastrzebski’s goals for this season?

The goal of every team is always to win the championship , no questions asked, but we know that we are playing in one of the best leagues in the world and we want to fight to be in the best 4 teams and see what can happen in the play-offs.”

Do you think that you can make a huge surprise at the end of the season in Plusliga?

We can't predict the future but, we will keep the hard work and the good vibes in the team and we will see where we will find our team at the end of the season but for the moment things are going in the good direction for us. That's why surprises are called surprises … In the end you will be surprised,” answers Hidalgo with a huge smile.

You played in many worldwide leagues, how would you rate Plusliga?

For me the Plusliga is the best league in which I ever played... Because in this league you have to play every match at 120%, there are so many volleyball "super stars" and "super teams" in PlusLiga. They have also all this new volleyball technologies, incredible fans, the tickets are sold out almost every match and that's a big challenge.”

How do you feel in Poland?

How do I feel? I feel great. I just know that I am blessed to be here and have so many people showing me appreciation and admiration at every game,” says Salvador Hidalgo at the end of the interview for WorldofVolley.

FIVB are testing new rules at WCH U23: Serve (VIDEO)

I honestly don't see the use of changing every time the rules. People at some point don't know anymore what the exact rules are, and at this time I'm talking about player, coaches, ... , people with much affection for the sport. People that don't know the sport, can't follow at all this evolution of rules. In consequence they lose interest in the sport and stop following it.

Also if this rule would apply, this will for many youth teams an issue to learn this kind of services, as they don't have the room behind the court as the professional player to learn this kind of service without landing in the court. I know courts where there's only 1 meter behind the service lines.

If we want the game to become more spectacular again, we should simply raise the hight of the net. People are becomming taller and taller and jumping higher and higher, the logical evolution would be to raise the net hight.

IT will impact the service presure and the attack presure, resulting in longer rally's.

Thanks just my personal opinion.

I wonder who has the same idea? Reply
