Even though Modena had a better opening, the World champions didn’t want to lose this game in front of the home fans, playing at a much higher level in the next three sets.
The Serbian international Uros Kovacevic was the best scorer in Trentino with 21 points, while the U.S. outside hitter had 20 points. On the other side, Ivan Zaytsev scored 20 and a former player of Trentino Tine Urnaut scored 17 points.
Matey Kaziyski had an excellent debut in Verona’s jersey, taking the role of a leader. The Bulgarian ended the game with 21 points, while Stephen Boyer contributed with 19 in a 3-1 win over Latina (23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17).
The reigning champions Perugia have downed Sora in four sets. Aleksandar Atanasijevic was the best scorer with 23 points, while the Cuban player scored 18 points.
