WoV in Poland: Confessions of a volleyball fan

by WoV

Apologies in advance to every other volleyball fan currently in Katowice because of what I'm going to write.

As someone who grew up alongside people loving volleyball I really had no choice but to love it myself. It worked out quite nicely if you ask me, so what’s the plot?

I was roaming around the Spodek Arena (it’s quite big if you didn’t know) trying to find the place where I can pick up my accreditation and there wasn’t like a million people trying to enter Germany’s practice and stuff. Thought ran through my mind – I actually like this.

Please don’t get me wrong, I like volleyball fans, especially those that care about everything that’s happening with their favorite team, that are crazy and absolutely in love with the sport. But – I do like the chance to enjoy these three matches in Katowice in some kind of a peaceful atmosphere where I can admire every single set of Iranian artist Marouf or be scared when Grozer hits it as hard as he can. Where I can just sit back and watch Ngapeth dance around the pitch breaking every gameplan into pieces (even one his coach came up with).

Maybe Polish fans in Katowice are sad because their team iz in Lodz along with Russian and Brazilian superstars, but I’m not. Can’t wait to enjoy the upcoming games. In peace.

Dear writer,
Do you agree that fans of Germany, Iran and France are guilty? They should support their teams because they are fighting for semis…

It’s not cheap to go around the World and support your team, and also Germany and France are more about some other sports. Poland is all about the volleyball so it’s understandable 🙂
