ASIAN CUP W: Fifth title for China, Yanhan Liu MVP

For the third time in a row China won the trophy of the Asian Volleyball Cup for women, but the fifth in the total.

  

Like in the previous four times, China finished the final match after three sets and this time they defeated Japan - 25-23, 25-20, 25-17. Yanhan Liu was named for the MVP.

Top scorers: Liu Yanhan 25, Zhang Yichan 17, Yang Zhou 8; Horie Miyuki 13, Aratani Shiori 11, Nakagawa Miyu 8.

 

In the match for the third place, Thailand outplayed Chinese Taipei also with 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-19) and won the third bronze medal for their country. They also have five medals in total (gold 2012 and silver 2010).

Top scorers: Chen Tzu Ya 10, Huang 10, Chen His 9; Sittirak 12, Kokram 11, Thinkaow 9, Kongyot 8.

In the match for the fifth place Vietnam defeated South Korea with 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-16) while Australia beat Iran 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-18)

Individual awards

Most Valuable Player: Liu Yanhan (China )

Best receivers: Miwako Osanai (Japan) and Ajcharaporn Kongyot (Thailand)

Best setter: Sun Haiping (China)

Best opposite: Pimpichaya Kokram (Thailand )

Best middle blockers: Gao Yi (China) and Tseng Wan-Ling (Chinese Taipei)

Best libero: Rena Mizusugi (Japan)
