Despite an ambitious attitude, Marcelo Gigante’s squad was not able to cross the border of 20 points in any set against the current world champion.
The “canarinhos” began this match better, but rivals from Colombia quickly led to a tie (5:5). After great play on the net, Lucas gained five points clear for Brazil (10:5), so coach Marcelo Gigante asked for a time out. However, it gave no effect, because the proteges of Bernardo Rezende continued to build their lead, which is the second technical break already reached nine points. World champions only needed three sets for victory (25:12), so they confirmed their domination.
Best scorers for Brazil were Lucas and Lucarelli, 9 points both. In Colombia, best among others were Machacon with 9 and Mosquera with 7 points.
