CL W: Vice-champions end participation in qualifiers, Stuttgart and Budowlani advance to the group stage

Stuttgart – Alba Blaj game was super exciting as the German side reduced the lead of the rival from the first game and forced the golden set.

They were much more dominant in the golden set, taking it 15-7 and advancing to the group stage. It was a disappointing display for the team that played in the finals of the previous edition of the Champions League.

"I would like to congratulate all my 13 players, my staff, the management, the sponsors, the fans... This is a victory we all achieved together. We delivered the perfect game. Everybody was enjoying watching Volleyball tonight. And I am speechless, I have nothing to say. I must enjoy the moment," says Ioannis Athanasopoulos, coach of Allianz MTV STUTTGART.

"Congratulations to Allianz MTV STUTTGART! For me, this is a disaster. I do not have anything else to say," says Darko Zakoc, coach of CSM Volei Alba BLAJ.

Budowlani have scored the victory even in the second game against Mulhouse, to claim the spot in the group stage.

Results of the third round, second leg:

Stuttgart – Alba Blaj 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-11)

Mulhouse – Budowlani 2-3 (25-23, 23-25, 25-16, 18-25, 11-15)

PHI W: Foton and Sta. Lucia open Superliga in a winning way

As exciting as it is to see foreigners putting up a show for your fans, it does nothing to help the development of the local talents. And some teams even have Filipino Americans playing as 'locals', while still having the additions of foreign players on the same team as well. Why not just have those Fil American count as the foreigners, so they won't take the space of locals? The Philippines ranks #117, I think you guys should get your act together first. Even North Korea ranks higher, has a NT and program, but no league........and that says a lot. lol Reply
