Rejuvenated Poland took revenge on Brazil for the preliminary round defeat to open the Final Six of the 2019 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League in Chicago, USA, in the best possible way.

In Pool B of the 2019 VNL, young Poland’s squad whose main players are having a break before the Qualifications for the 2020 Olympic Games in August, defeated Brazil in five sets at the Final Six opening: 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-9) in 2 hours and 21 minutes of a play. Thus, Poland took revenge on Brazil for a defeat in the preliminary round (3-1) and will advance to the semifinals in case of beating Iran on July 12.

The world champions Poland (11-4 in the preliminary round, No.5) extended their winning streak in the Nations League to 8 matches, while an 8-game run of Brazil (14-1 in the preliminary round, No.1) came to an end.

As for the match itself, Brazil missed a huge opportunity to take the lead in sets of 2-1 after squandering a 16-11 lead. Poland even got a red card at that moment. But since then, Poland started to play on a really high level, especially in the tie-break when they made a 7-1 run at 7-all, which completely pushed Brazil away from the victory.
