Tours finished the 2018/19 French Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season in a rather dominant manner with a 22-2 record and 61 points.

Although they secured the top seed a long time ago, Tours ended the 2018/19 Ligue A Masculine regular season with a 20th victory in a row which came against Montpellier in four sets, partially 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, thanks to 24 points from Latvian Hermans Egleskalns.

By suffering a defeat, Montpellier lost the second place in the standings which ultimately went to Ajaccio despite the fact they were free of playing in the last round. Thus, Montpellier will have to face the Ligue A runners-up Chaumont in the playoff quarterfinals.

Rennes, who defeated Nantes-Rezé in straight sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-15) with 19 points (five kill blocks) from Belgian Bram van den Dries, have snatched the No.4 seed.

Ukrainian Andrii Kutsmus pushed Poitiers over Nice (3-0: 25-20, 25-21, 25-22) with 18 points to claim the seventh place and avoid No.1 seed Tours at the beginning of the playoffs.

2018/19 Ligue A Masculine – playoff quarterfinals (G1 on April 19, G2 on April 23, if necessary - G3 on April 24):

(1) Tours – (8) Nantes-Rezé

(4) Rennes – (5) Nice

(3) Montpellier – (6) Chaumont

(2) Ajaccio – (7) Poitiers

League leaders:

Best scorer - Bram van den Dries (BEL, Rennes) 506 points

Best server - Árpád Baróti (HUN, Narbonne) 51 aces

Best blocker – Krasimir Georgiev (BUL, Rennes) 63 kill blocks

Best receiver – Julien Lemay (Tourcoing) 70%

Best attacker – Danijel Koncilja (SLO, Cannes) 61%

This is probably record win in Volleyball: Vietnam give away only 5 points to rivals in entire match!

I have seen taller Indian women (Maldives). I guess none of them showed up at the court. You know you are in trouble when you are spiking up instead of down. Reply

VNL F6 M: With 5 players in double digits, Brazil down Iran to clinch last semifinal berth

It was a fantastic game. Brazil won previous game 3-2 and most of spectators were predicting that this match is as easy as previous but Iranian players show that anything is possible if you work hard and believe that you can! Brazilian players were stronger and highly skilled but in volleyball, no one can say win is absolute. Reply
