Tourcoing did not miss the opportunity to return to the top of the charts of the 2019/20 Ligue A Masculine regular season. After Sète’s defeat to Paris on Friday, the team coached by Croatian Igor Juričić beat Narbonne on the road by a 3-1 (27-29, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21) and took over the leadership of the league with 5-1 and 14 points. Colombian opposite hitter Ronald Jiménez led the scorers of the winning side with 18 points. Mexican Pedro Rangel served 5 aces, libero Julien Lemay made 81% reception (21 digs, 67% excellent), while Serbian Miran Kujundžić had 81% attack success rate (13/16). Cuban Yordan Bisset scored 20 points for Narbonne.

Rennes were impressive against champions Tours (3-0) to come in second in the standings with 4-2 and the same number of points like Tourcoing but with the weaker set-ratio. Cannes, who were unbeaten in the first four matches in the competition, suffered second straight defeat even though one of their players made the most attacks this season so far. American opposite hitter Kyle Russell hit as many as 55 times in the match against Ajaccio and scored 30 points, but his team succumbed in the tie-break.
