The individual performance of prospect American opposite hitter Jordan Thompson became a topic in the volleyball world in the last 24 hours.

The 22-year-old opposite Thompson, who is playing her final college year at the University of Cincinnati women’s volleyball team – the Bearcats, made a stunning single-game scoring output last night. In the NCAA Division I match against the UConn Huskies, which her team won by a 3-2, Thompson put down 51 points (50 kills and one ace)!

Thompson broke the single-match scoring record of the conference in which her team is competing - the American Athletic Conference and became just the seventh player in NCAA Division I history to score 50 or more points in a match, the first after 20 years. Breaking records is not unordinary for her as she broke two records last year: the record of her university for single-season kills (827) and the NCAA record for kills per set (6.27).

Thompson made her debut for the U.S. National Team this summer in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in which she made some striking displays such as the one against Brazil. Ultimately, she won the gold medal in the event. Next season, Thompson will exit her collegiate career and will be ready to sign her first professional contract. After the way she has been playing in the last few months, we are sure that numerous top-level teams in Europe and beyond will try to secure her signature...

TUR W: VakıfBank’s hellish plan – Bartsch to come in January, Egonu in summer!

I don't know about this. I think Haak is doing well but not great since she is the highest paid player on the team. Haak has been working really hard, lost weight to jump higher, hit the ball well but just not putting the ball away on her attacks. Gabi is a good attacker but she is just too short therefore being blocked easily. They had 4 match points against Imoco but failed. I believe the key reason is they don't have enough offensive plays to confuse the defense. The blame should be on the whole team including the coach. Ebrar is practically useless, Rasic's blocking is just not the same and their defense overall is lacking. I also think Vakifbank is rethinking about Zhu Ting seeing how serious her wrist injury is. CWCH 2019 M: Bruninho refuses to receive MVP award and hands it to Leal (VIDEO)!

Re: @Agguerro Because this will lead to anarchy where individual players are deciding who deserves an award. No one is always right, and we all know that FIVB is more wrong than right. But it is FIVB competition and they make or change a rule as they see it fit. Like reducing number of participants to 4 this year. Or awarding the best setter and MVP award to the same person although in the past those two awards were intentionally given to two different players?
Did you ever wonder why Perugia and Trentino, last year champion, don't participate anymore? Because they don't want to be part of this nonsense competition that doesn't mean anything. But if Lube accepted to be part of, then they should follow the rules they accepted. Reply
