Trefl Gdańsk startled VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa in Round 23 of the 2019/20 Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

Trefl caused a great sensation in the 2019/20 PlusLiga regular season and defeated vice-leaders Warszawa at home in straight sets, partially 25-23, 26-24, 25-19.

With the win, Trefl secured a place in the playoffs, while the team from the Polish capital made a big step back in the fight for the top spot in the regular season as they now have two points less than the leaders Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle (61-59).

It was quite an emotional night at the Ergo Arena. As many as four former members of Trefl came with Warszawa to the match. Of course, a person mostly adored by Trefl’s fans is the head coach Andrea Anastasi who spent five seasons with the club. Others are players Piotr Nowakowski, Patryk Niemiec and Michał Kozłowskim.

Bartosz Filipiak top-scored for the Gdańsk side with 22 points. Belarussian Artur Udrys notched 17 points for Warszawa.

For the first time in history, Italy won’t participate in VNL

Well Sports Fans, the reality is that Italy won't be alone and you can bet more Federations will do the same as this worlwide pandemic evolves. Summer sports for all will not be happening and I can forsee European Leagues holding off until late October and November. Budgets for all clubs and federations are in a holding pattern until we get a better grip on this virus. Its actually a smart decision by the Italians. Hopefully the Atheltes use this time to rest and strengthen their bodies Reply
