Ekaterina Gamova’s role at this EuroVolley is officially an assistant coach in the Russian U19 women’s national team.

Her presence in the team means a lot to these young players, that are trying to gather as much experience as they can, to make a progress in their development.

Of course, these players remind me of myself. I look at them and I am reminded of when I was at their age, playing at the European Championship. I understand very well how important it is for them to be here and to show their best. I want to transfer my knowledge of Volleyball to these young girls. To show them what I can and to possibly make them do it. And most importantly, to show them what I love about Volleyball,” says Gamova.

In case someone doesn’t know who is Ekatarina Gamova – she is a legendary Russian player who won many trophies throughout her rich career and we will mention just a few of them: winning gold medals with Russia at the World Championship (2006, 2010) and European Championship (1999, 2001), two-time silver medalist at the Olympic Games (2000, 2004)…
