RUS M: Konstantinov – „Russian Super League should allow one more foreigner on the court“

The head coach of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk Plamen Konstantinov has commented on the „foreign players“ rule in the Russian volleyball Super League.

I know that in Russia they are not positive about this idea, but I believe that we need to increase the number of foreign players. I believe that we need quality players who could make 14 teams stronger. If we add one more foreigner, it will not greatly change the level of the top teams but will bring others closer to them. Then the championship will become more competitive and interesting. The strongest competition among the player, the better for the Russian players. This will help to increase their level. It happens very often that the players who have not shown anything, having only some talent and potential, signing big contracts. They say „You can’t make a team without the Russians, so pay them. You don’t like it? I don’t care, I have other suggestions as well.“ We need to think and talk about this issue,“ says Plamen Konstantinov.
