Zenit Kazan have suffered the first defeat in the Russian championship this season!

It’s interesting that Fakel managed to beat the team from Kazan twice in the season 2018/2019. The first time was at the Club Men’s World Championship and now in the Russian league.

Since the score between these two sides in this season is 2-1, it means Zenit Kazan have lots of difficulties with Fakel Noviy Urengoy. That’s some sort of message from to the reigning champions, that there are more title contenders in Russia.

Well, in this game, Zenit had everything under control after the first two sets, but in the other three Fakel managed to make a comeback and to win the game.

Maxim Mikhailov was the best scorer of the game with 23 points, while Earvin Ngapeth added 16 points and Matt Anderson 13 points. On the winning side, Artur Udris had 16 points while Egor Kliuka contributed with 14 points and Dmitriy Volkov 12 points.

Belogorie have scored an important victory, beating Zenit SP in four sets. Gordon Perrin led the team from Belgorod with 15 points, while Nemanja Petric and Denis Zemchenok scored 14 points each.

Georg Grozer had 20 points on the other side, Oreol Camejo added 15.

Men’s Russian League, round 19:

Kuzbass – Dinamo Moscow 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19)

UFA – Krasnoyarsk 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20)

Gazprom Yugra – Yugra Samotlor 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-23)

Zenit Kazan – Fakel 2-3 (25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 21-25, 14-16)

PHI W: Foton and Sta. Lucia open Superliga in a winning way

As exciting as it is to see foreigners putting up a show for your fans, it does nothing to help the development of the local talents. And some teams even have Filipino Americans playing as 'locals', while still having the additions of foreign players on the same team as well. Why not just have those Fil American count as the foreigners, so they won't take the space of locals? The Philippines ranks #117, I think you guys should get your act together first. Even North Korea ranks higher, has a NT and program, but no league........and that says a lot. lol Reply
