The President of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) Stanislav Shevchenko told RIA Novosti that they have not received a letter from the Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) asking to punish Aleksey Spiridonov for an offensive message on Twitter.

Russian player Spiridonov wrote an insulting comment on the post of Poland national team captain Karol Kłos on Twitter and continued to bicker with the other people, who replied to him, by using vulgar terms and curses in which he referred to Poland as a country. Later, Spirik deleted these messages.

The Polish Federation issued a note saying that they filed a complaint to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the All-Russian Volleyball Federation, requesting them to punish Spiridonov for these Twitter posts.

“At the moment, we haven’t received any requests (from PZPS),” Russian Federation President Shevchenko said to Sport RIA Novosti.

Spiridonov told the same news agency that he wrote a comment specifically to Kłos and that did not refer to the entire Polish nation.

“There was an example when the Polish Volleyball player Michał Kubiak insulted the whole Iranian nation in an interview and for this he was punished. That’s one thing. I wrote a message on Twitter to one particular player, answering the post which he wrote on his profile. I didn’t touch upon the whole nation. I don’t understand why they are blowing this out of proportion and want to somehow punish me. Why should I be punished?” Spiridonov stated.

TUR W: VakıfBank’s hellish plan – Bartsch to come in January, Egonu in summer!

Re: @Anon - Zhu Ting is not gonna go anywhere till Olympic is over. Wrist injury gonna take sometime to heal and recover. Hopefully She will fully fit before Olympic. Otherwise defending the title is almost impossible for China without Zhu Ting.

If Zhu Ting is still hurt or injured during the tournament, the coach can use her as a middle blocker. I feel she is the best blocker on the team. She has great instincts of where the hitter will hit to, she is tall and her hang time is very good. She is one of the more effective blockers against Egonu.

The different in strength and overall qualities of the team between Thai and the rest are just too great . Thai can still win even with their reserve members. Reply

CL M: Benfica shock Warszawa to record first-ever triumph in pool stage

VERVA Warszawa's defeat was due to Anastasi who too underestimated his opponent.
Starting lineup of VERVA in the match included 4 players who rarely played in the domestic league.

In order to make it to the playoffs, VERVA had to win this match against the weaker team but lost.
Therefore, it became very difficult for VERVA to pass through the group.
