RUS M: Iakovlev scares away Kuzbass players from net, Zenit St. Petersburg down champions

Zenit Saint-Petersburg are the new leaders of the 2019/20 Russian Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

 

Zenit Saint-Petersburg took revenge on the champions Kuzbass for losing the 3rd round match of the 2019/20 Superliga Parimatch regular season and prevailed over them in Round 13 by a 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20). Cuban-born Oreol Camejo led the winning side with 20 points, while Ivan Iakovlev made as many as 9 kill blocks! Anton Karpukhov scored 14 points for the titleholders. With the triumph, the team coached by Tuomas Sammelvuo took over the lead of the competition and broke the 7-game winning streak of Kuzbass.

After sweeping Gazprom-Yugra, Dinamo Moscow improved their ranking by 4 places and came in 3rd.

Ural – Enisey 0-3 (21-25, 27-29, 27-29)

Belogorie – ASK 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19)

Dinamo Moscow - Gazprom-Yugra 3-0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-16)

Zenit Saint-Petersburg – Kuzbass 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20)

January 21:

Yugra-Samotlor – Lokomotiv, 15:00 CET

January 22:

Fakel – Zenit-Kazan, 15:00 CET

RUS M: Drzyzga parts ways with Lokomotiv after winning Russian championship

I think this was the best decision for the club. With only having 2 foreigner spots, the setter position was the easier position to let go. I think Lokomotiv will transfer a foreign OPP in place. Reply
