The leaders of the standings of the 2019/20 Superliga Parimatch regular season Lokomotiv have fallen to Zenit-Kazan in a tie-break in the match of the 19th round: 3-2 (38-26, 20-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-11). The first set lasted for as many as 45 minutes! The team from the Tatarstan didn’t let sensational elimination from the Playoffs of the 2020 CEV Champions League disturb them.

With a defeat today, Lokomotiv’s huge winning streak (10 games overall, 5 in Superliga), came to an end. Despite remaining at the top of the standings, Lokomotiv’s advantage in relation to the second-placed Zenit-Kazan has reduced to only four points, with Zenit-Kazan having one match played less. Also, Kuzbass’ surprisingly easy win over Dinamo Moscow of 3-0, in which they didn’t allow opponents to score more than 16 points in any of the sets returned the titleholders into the battle for the No.1. The team from the Russian capital is pushed to the fourth position.

But let’s get back to the match between Lokomotiv and Zenit-Kazan. The Frenchman Earvin Ngapeth top-scored for the winning side with 23 points (4 aces). Serbian Marko Ivović tallied 22 points for Lokomotiv.
