TUR W: New wins for Eczacibasi and Vakifbank, Rahimova leads THY to the win!

There’s nothing new in the Turkish women’s League since the two top placed team have continued their winning streaks.

 

Eczacibasi, the only undefeated team in the league, have scored the 18th win, beating Ankara Karayollari on the road in three sets.

Tijana Boskovic was on fire in this game, scoring 25 points, while Kim Yeon Koung added 13 and Jordan Larson 12.

Vakifbank played on the home court against Halkbank and ended the game in straight sets. Ebrar Karakurt was the best scorer with 17 points, Lonneke Sloetjes added 14, Chiara di Iulio 13 and Kubra Caliskan 11!

Polina Rahimova's arrival had a huge influence on THY's game. She pushed the team to the win over Canakkale with 25 points.

Women’s Turkish League, round 18:

Besiktas – Beylikduzu 2-3 (25-21, 17-25, 25-23, 18-25, 11-15)

Vakifbank – Halkbank 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-16)

Aydin – Fenerbahce 2-3 (19-25, 25-17, 11-25, 28-26, 9-15)

Ankara – Eczacibasi 0-3 (16-25, 14-25, 22-25)

Canakkale – Thy 0-3 (21-25, 22-25, 17-25)

As exciting as it is to see foreigners putting up a show for your fans, it does nothing to help the development of the local talents. And some teams even have Filipino Americans playing as 'locals', while still having the additions of foreign players on the same team as well. Why not just have those Fil American count as the foreigners, so they won't take the space of locals? The Philippines ranks #117, I think you guys should get your act together first. Even North Korea ranks higher, has a NT and program, but no league........and that says a lot. lol Reply
