Both Fenerbahçe Opet and VakıfBank responded with authority to the role of favorites that was given to them prior to the 2018-2019 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi (Turkish women’s volleyball league) playoff quarterfinals.

In Game 1 of the best-of-three playoff quarterfinals in Turkey, the third seed Fenerbahçe Opet beat No.6 Türk Hava Yolları (Turkish Airlines) on the road in straight sets, having trouble to prevail only in the third one. Cuban teenager who settled at the top of the scorer’s list in the league Melissa Vargas highlighted for „Fener“ with 18 points (4 aces). Azerbaijani opposite hitter Polina Rahimova scored 17 points for THY. Game 2 is scheduled in Fenerbahçe’s hall on March 28.

Since league’s rules say that the first match in the series has to be played in the field of the lower seeded team, No.2 VakıfBank traveled to Bursa and defeated the seventh seed Nilüfer Bld, also in straight sets. Kübra Akman (5 kill blocks, 73% excellent attack) and 19-year-old Ebrar Karakurt scored 12 points apiece for the winning side. Canadian Autumn Bailey was the best scorer in Nilüfer with 13 points.

2018-2019 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi playoff quarterfinals – Game 1:

(7) Nilüfer Bld. vs. (2) VakıfBank 0-3 (18-25, 20-25, 24-26)

(6) Türk Hava Yolları vs. (3) Fenerbahçe Opet 0-3 (20-25, 16-25, 26-28)

It is a pity, because Tandara is 100 times better than Ana Paula Borgo. Reply

VNL 2019 M: France end Iran’s 7-game winning streak, Australia beat Portugal in battle to avoid relegation

Some of the players from the Portuguese national team during the match would get a hard blow from me. When he served Alex Ferreira and the ball was passing to Portugal, they did terrible things.

VNL 2019 M: Poletaev and Leal make admirable attack success rates, leading Russia and Brazil to wins in Pool 16

What about scarse reception of Leal? Took 6 aces suring the match.... What about services mistakes? So he made 11 points in attack but gave away directly 8!!! Great score, 2 positive..... Reply
