Spor Toto is, undoubtedly, the hit of the 2019/20 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season!

The greatest hit of the Turkish male volleyball, probably of the volleyball in Europe in general, is Spor Toto. The team from Ankara took over the right to compete in the 2019/20 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season from Maliye Piyango and thus, they are making their debut in the country’s top division. And what a debut it is for now!

Spor Toto downed nine-time champions Halkbank at home by a 3-1 (13-25, 25-23, 30-28, 28-26) to come in first in the charts with 5-0 and 15 points. They are one of the three undefeated teams in the competition. On the other hand, Halkbank are closer to fighting for Efeler Ligi survival than fighting for a playoff spot (1-4).

Ugandan Daudi Okello had one more mighty performance (28 points) for Spor Toto. He is currently the top scorer of the league when it comes to the points per set (6.24) and third-best scorer overall (106 points). Metin Toy and Moldovan Dmitrii Bahov scored 19 points apiece for Halbank. Faik Samet Güneş made 5 kill blocks.

CL M: Benfica shock Warszawa to record first-ever triumph in pool stage

VERVA Warszawa's defeat was due to Anastasi who too underestimated his opponent.
Starting lineup of VERVA in the match included 4 players who rarely played in the domestic league.

In order to make it to the playoffs, VERVA had to win this match against the weaker team but lost.
Therefore, it became very difficult for VERVA to pass through the group.

TUR W: VakıfBank’s hellish plan – Bartsch to come in January, Egonu in summer!

I just knew from the start of the 2019-2020 season Vakifbank will still have an addition in the roster. I think they used the first half of the season training and exposing Karakurt in preparation for the Olympic Qualification. Reply

TUR W: VakıfBank’s hellish plan – Bartsch to come in January, Egonu in summer!

I don't know about this. I think Haak is doing well but not great since she is the highest paid player on the team. Haak has been working really hard, lost weight to jump higher, hit the ball well but just not putting the ball away on her attacks. Gabi is a good attacker but she is just too short therefore being blocked easily. They had 4 match points against Imoco but failed. I believe the key reason is they don't have enough offensive plays to confuse the defense. The blame should be on the whole team including the coach. Ebrar is practically useless, Rasic's blocking is just not the same and their defense overall is lacking. I also think Vakifbank is rethinking about Zhu Ting seeing how serious her wrist injury is.
