Eczacıbaşı hired a former player Merve Dalbeler Aslan during the break in the club season due to the continental Olympic qualifications. The 32-year-old libero was a member of the Istanbul team from 2002 to 2009 and already collaborated with the current head coach Marco Aurélio Motta (2005-2007). Merve came to Eczacıbaşı from Beşiktaş with whom she started the season.

She already got used to winning trophies with the “Tigers” as she clinched 3 national championships and one national cup with them. In addition, Merve was the winner of the CEV Champions League and the CEV Cup once each, and the Turkish league and the Turkish Cup twice apiece, all with Fenerbahçe Opet. She won the CEV European Games with the Turkey National Team while, individually, Merve was named Best Libero of the Turkish Championship once.
