TUR M: After more than 2 and a half hours, Spor Toto end Fenerbahçe’s huge winning streak

Spor Toto ended an amazing winning streak of Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta in the 2019/20 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.


Four teams have secured a place in the playoffs of the 2019/20 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi, four rounds before the end of the regular season: Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta, Arkas Spor, Spor Toto, and Galatasaray HDI Sigorta. Two of these teams faced today in the match valid for Round 18. On the road, Spor Toto prevailed over leaders Fenerbahçe in the tie-break, ending rival’s 13-game winning streak and moving from the fourth to the third position in the standings.

The match lasted for more than two and a half hours (2:33) with the second set lasting for as many as 41 minutes: 3-2 (26-24, 34-32, 25-27, 20-25, 15-11). Brazilian Leonardo Nascimento “Leozinho“ poured in 28 points for the winning side. The Dutchman Wouter Ter Maat scored 26 for Fenerbahçe.

Well Sports Fans, the reality is that Italy won't be alone and you can bet more Federations will do the same as this worlwide pandemic evolves. Summer sports for all will not be happening and I can forsee European Leagues holding off until late October and November. Budgets for all clubs and federations are in a holding pattern until we get a better grip on this virus. Its actually a smart decision by the Italians.
