Six cities from Italy and three from Bulgaria will host the 2018 World Champs: Roma, Milano, Firenze, Bari, Bologna, Torino (Italy), Ruse, Varna, and Sofia (Bulgaria).

Also, the competition formula was confirmed in the press conference in Rome: the 24 teams will be split four pools of six teams playing in a single round-robin system (two pools each in Italy and Bulgaria).

The top four teams will advance to the second round and will be divided into two pools of eight teams playing both in Italy and Bulgaria.

The top three teams from each pool will qualify to the third round (the Final Six), where the six teams will be split into two pools, from which the top two teams from each pool will advance to the semifinals. The Final Six, semifinals and finals will be held only in Italy, more precisely in Torino.
