Firstly, he wants to score the best possible results in a jersey of Zenit St. Petersburg.

How would you rate the performances of Zenit St. Petersburg so far this season?

This season started great for us, but now we come to one point of the season when our performances are not the best at all and we are working hard to return to the road from the start of the season,” explains Grozer in an interview for WorldofVolley.

Recently, you lost the final of the Russian Cup vs. a team from Kazan. Which factors decided this game?

We lost the final against Zenit Kazan. It was a sad moment for us and it put us a little bit back because we wanted to beat them. Zenit Kazan won and this is the sports life. We got the second place and we were happy that we reached the final.”

How do you feel in St. Petersburg?

I feel perfect in St. Petersburg. It’s a great city with great people. I feel very comfortable here. Also, it’s good because my girlfriend is playing in Moscow and we can see each other many times. Also, for my kids, it’s easy to come from Europe or for my mum as well.”

Is the Russian league getting stronger year by year?

It’s my fifth season in Russia. For me, the league has always been strong, all teams, from the first to the last position. You always need to play at 100% if you want to make something. There is a lot of traveling as well. I like the league and I hope we can reach the gold medal.”

What’s your status in the German national team? Are you still going to play?

I will still be playing for the German national team. My goal is to reach the Olympics and I will do everything to achieve the goal. Also, we will have the European Championship where we will try to reach a medal.”

Recently, you’ve created one of the most-craziest volleyball knock-outs, hitting Erik Shoji in the head. How did you feel in that moment, after seeing him lying down on the court?

I am Sorry for Erik. I mean, I don’t like to hit people but it’s somehow happening. It’s not a nice feeling, I am really sorry. It’s happening especially to liberos, that are constantly defending. I apologized to him.”

Are you exchanging volleyball advice with your girlfriend, Helena Havelkova?

We are talking a lot about volleyball. We are there for each other in the good moments and in the bad moments as well, when we are in pain… We are proud of how we are working and I am super proud on her this season. She won the Super Cup and the Russian Cup, she is doing fine in Moscow.”

Where are you’ve been for the New Year’s Eve?

We were in Liberec with Helena’s parents and we need to travel back to Russia. I have a game at the beginning of January so I don’t have that much time to rest.“

What are your goals for 2019?

To win the Russian championship, to reach the finals in the CEV Champions League, and the most important things are to stay healthy and strong.”

What would be your message for the young volleyball players?

If they want to become the best in the world, they need to work really hard and they need to be team players. I wish them to win everything they dream about,” says Grozer for WorldofVolley.com
