The squad of the German Men’s Volleyball Championship runners-up VfB Friedrichshafen is completed with the signing of an Australian middle blocker Nehemiah Mote.

The middle blocker Mote came to Friedrichshafen to complete the 2019/20 roster of the Bundesliga runners-up that will consist of 13 players, the club announced. A 26-year-old Australia national team member is familiar with competing in the German top division as he defended the colors of Volleyball Bisons Bühl from 2014 to 2016 and Berlin Recycling Volleys in the 2016/17 season. At the end of the 2017/18 season, which he spent playing for the Swiss side Volley Amriswil, Mote sustained an injury that forced him to be sidelined for nearly a whole year. A 204 centimeters tall player competed for the “Volleyroos” in the 2019 FIVB Nations League.

Before Mote, Friedrichshafen signed an American middle blocker Brendan Schmidt (CS Dinamo București, Romania), his compatriot – the setter Joe Worsley (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Rainbow Warriors, NCAA), outside hitters - Slovak Tomáš Kriško (UNTREF Vóley, Argentina), Romanian Rares Balean (ACS Volei Municipal Zalău, Romania), Estonian Martti Juhkami (Tourcoing, France) and Austrian Anton Menner (Ostrava, the Czech Republic), North Macedonian opposite hitter Nikola Gjorgiev (Osaka Blazers Sakai, Japan), and head coach Michael Warm (Austria Men’s national team).

The club extended with the libero Thilo Späth-Westerholt, opposite hitter Daniel Malescha, and middle blocker Jakob Günthör.

As for departures, the Polish opposite hitter Bartłomiej Bołądź returned to playing in his home country as he joined the top division newcomers MKS Ślepsk Suwałki. These players also left Friedrichshafen: outside hitters - Greek Athanasis Protopsaltis (Cerrad Czarni Radom, Poland), Romanian Adrian Aciobăniţei (Cannes, France), David Sossenheimer (MKS Będzin, Poland) and Slovak Michal Petráš (Volley Amriswil, Switzerland), as well as the Belgian head coach Vital Heynen (Poland Men’s national team).
