The Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) intends to organize matches of national teams with the presence of fans and decided to apply to authorities for mass event permission.

Not counting matches already played, the Poland men’s National Team will play sparring matches with Estonia (July 26 and 27), while women will face Switzerland (July 28 and 29) – all in Łódź. Despite the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the president of PZPS, Jacek Kasprzyk, hopes that fans will be able to watch these friendlies.

He gave up on trying to make it work for the two duels of the men’s team against Germany in Zielona Góra as well as he was unable to make it work for women’s team matches versus the Czech Republic. Thus, the PZPS is ready to apply for the organization of mass events in Łódź. If they get a green light, it may be possible to bring in some fans.

Playing matches and even training in the Łódź Sport Arena has become questionable in recent days after the coronavirus infection was detected in one of the players of the women’s club ŁKS Commercecon Łódź. As a result, the entire team was sent to quarantine and the hall was also closed. However, it was quickly informed that after disinfection and thorough inspection were performed, the facility can be used again.

The Polish federation is one of the few in the world that, despite the pandemic, decided to organize training camps and friendly matches for both national teams.
