Men’s team of Al Ahly Cairo followed the footsteps of its female colleagues to win the 2019 African Volleyball Club Championship.

The most-titled Egyptian club Al Ahly Cairo (29 national championships) cruised to a straight-set victory over compatriots Smouha SC in the finals of the 2019 African Club Championship, partially 25-17, 25-23, 25-19. Thus, the side from the Egyptian capital won the continental trophy for the 14th time (the nearest follower on the winner's list is Tunisian CF Sfaxien with six titles). This African Club Championship trophy, third in a row for Al Ahly, came in front of their own crowd. Their dominance most clearly reflected in the fact that they did not suffer a single loss during an entire tournament: a 7-0 record.

Two weeks ago, Al Ahly got another African volleyball club champions as women’s team lifted the trophy as well.

Individual awards:

Best server: Mohamed El Mahdy (Smouha)

Best receiver: Mohamed Reda (Smouha)

Best blocker: Abdelrahman Seoudy (Al Ahly)

Best attacker: Ahmed Said (Al Ahly)

Best Libero: Fuad Elmaarug (Al Ahli SC Tripoli)

Best setter: Ahmed Amir Kerbua (Smouha)

MVP: Ahmed Salah (Al Ahly)

RUS W: Despite renewing with Dinamo Moscow, Ognjenović will join VakıfBank

Wow! Ognjenović had some heated clashes with the Vakifbank coach on court while she was playing for EcZ. I have seen in one video that she was screaming at him. Ognjenović is fiery and the captain of the National Serbia team and is considered one of the best setters (and smart) in the world. I like this move. The current setter for Vakifbank makes bad decisions(and poor sets) at bad times that caused them. Reply
