Maxim Zhigalov, the Russian international and a member of Czarni Radom has talked about his experience in Poland.

“Going to Poland, my wife and I did not know what was waiting for us there: how the life would be, how the city and the team would accept us. Living in another country for a long time turned out to be an interesting life experience. First of all, I did not expect that the Russians and the Poles would be so similar in terms of mentality and personal relationships. To be honest, I didn’t go into any political details when I was going to Poland. I didn’t see any prejudice toward myself as the Russian.”

Then he talked about the period when he was searching for a club:

I had a contract for one more year with Belogorie. To leave, I had to pay a penalty. When my agent managed to reduce it to an acceptable amount it was already quite late – the end of 2017/2018 season. Up to this point, I did not know whether I would stay in Belgorod or not. At that time, Czarni Radom was one of the teams that didn’t complete the roster. The Russian clubs completed the rosters and I wanted to get a stable gaming practice and to try something new. Therefore, Poland turned out to be an ideal option – an interesting championship, an ambitious team, a coach with whom you can communicate in both Russian and English. I am grateful to Radom for inviting me and offering a contract…”

PHI W: Foton and Sta. Lucia open Superliga in a winning way

As exciting as it is to see foreigners putting up a show for your fans, it does nothing to help the development of the local talents. And some teams even have Filipino Americans playing as 'locals', while still having the additions of foreign players on the same team as well. Why not just have those Fil American count as the foreigners, so they won't take the space of locals? The Philippines ranks #117, I think you guys should get your act together first. Even North Korea ranks higher, has a NT and program, but no league........and that says a lot. lol Reply
