The Polish Men’s Volleyball Championship member Indykpol AZS Olsztyn reinforced their squad for the next season with the country’s national team outside hitter.

The 2014 FIVB World Championship winner Mateusz Mika is a new player of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn. A 28-year-old outside hitter recently parted ways with Asseco Resovia Rzeszów.

In addition to Mika, Olsztyn signed two more players for the 2019/20 season. A 19-year-old opposite hitter Remigiusz Kapica from Tauron AZS Częstochowa youth team and a 27-year-old setter Tomasz Kowalski from MKS Będzin.

Olsztyn also engaged a new head coach - Italian Paolo Montagnani. He started his coaching career in Women’s volleyball but spent the most of it working in the Men’s. Montagnani was at the helm of several teams in his home country, even led Italy national team in 2012, and in Japan (Suntory Sunbirds). Last season, he won Italian Division 2 survival for Acqua Fonteviva Apuana Livorno.

POL M: Heynen criticizes EuroVolley format – “It’s not good for Volleyball”

[@John Doek] Everyone criticised VNL, Heynen being one of them, when its formula was introduced. It is mainly the fault of VNL that there is so little time to rest and prepare for bigger tournaments in the second part of national season, there is too much matches to play. Reply

WC 2019 W: Netherlands surprisingly sweep Brazil on Balkestein’s birthday, China wreck Russia

I don't like the comment that Balkestein-Grothues underperformed! We all know she is there to receive and defend. As you said: 0 aces for Brazil, so she did a great job! Aswell did Schoot, who was almost perfect in receive and defence! Reply
